A project for parenting

Last semester I had the experience to take home the computerized baby for two days. It was an eye-opening experience that I won’t forget.

The baby came with a diaper bag, a car seat, one bottle, two diapers, and a bracelet that had a computer chip in it so the baby would know that I was taking care of it. So think about all of the items, it doesn’t really seem they cost so much. But if I were to break or lose any of the items, I was responsible.

When I took home the baby, it was scheduled to turn on at 4 p.m. so I was a little anxious because I had no idea what to expect from this computerized baby. So when it was 4, the baby did this little coo, and then I became even more nervous and anxious.

When it cried for the very first time, I couldn’t get the baby to chime, which means when the baby cries I had to touch the baby’s bottom or the baby’s back, and wait for a chime, which meant I could now take care of the baby. Now I was worried about failing because I couldn’t even get the bracelet to read, so I was freaking. Finally I got the bracelet to work and the baby chimed, and it wanted fed for like 30 minutes. The baby went off a lot, mostly to be fed or a diaper change.

It woke me up at 3 a.m. I was so tired, but I didn’t want to fail, so I got up, and it wanted fed. So I was up from approximately 3-4 a.m., So two days in a row I was up at 3-4 a.m. and it was an experience.

The baby gave me a sense of what it is like to have a baby to take care of, but it’s nothing compared to a real baby.
