The rumor is correct

Let’s cut to the chase. The rumor is correct; I have announced my retirement effective July 2015. The past six years at Shawnee Heights have been a very rewarding time for me. I stated six years ago when I came to Shawnee Heights that the reason for applying for the job was the reputation of the staff, community, and the student body. The land of the Thunderbirds is highly respected across the state, and during my six years I have experienced it first hand. I want to thank the staff, student body, and community for this great opportunity. It’s time for me to find a new challenge in life.
As for who will be the new principal next year? I’m afraid I can’t shine any light on that. I believe the district will be posting the opening, and I expect there will be a great deal of interest in becoming a Thunderbird. At some point I’m sure you will see individuals walking the building once the interviews begin. I only hope the student body will embrace the new principal like it did me six years ago.
Now that that’s out of the way, we still have a number of months ahead. So let’s talk about the next few months. By the time of this newspaper you may have already seen a change with testing on the iPad. We have a new program that will allow teachers to lock students into the iPad while they take test. This will prevent students from taking screen shots or switching apps to look up information. While most of you don’t attempt to cheat, this program will again place everyone on the same playing field.
In a few weeks we will have Parent – Teacher Conferences. Hopefully, you’re working hard, and when your parents arrive, they will hear only positive words. Keep plugging away, summer is fast approaching.
